Meet Kate Giebelhaus

We are pleased to welcome Kate Giebelhaus, MSW, RSW Candidate, to our therapist team!

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our team at Kelowna Trauma Therapy Clinic, Kate Giebelhaus. With her extensive background and dedication to mental health, Kate brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will undoubtedly enrich our practice and benefit our clients.

Professional Expertise

Kate’s journey in the field of social work and therapy has been marked by a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta, and a Masters of Clinical Social Work from the University of British Columbia Okanagan.

Work Experience and Skills

What sets Kate apart is her hands-on experience in the mental health field. Her previous roles include Mental Health Worker, Counsellor and Educator. She has worked primarily with youth and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, the impacts of trauma, and interpersonal conflicts. Through these roles, Kate has honed her ability to provide individualized care to clients grappling with a range of mental health concerns.

Kate empowers her clients through using strategies from Narrative, Cognitive-Behavioural, Solution-Focused, and Dialectical-Behaviour therapies, as well as somatic approaches. In doing so, she helps clients to challenge negative thought patterns, manage emotions, and cultivate resilience. She engages clients with a trauma-informed and holistic perspective, recognizing the importance of addressing the impacts of trauma and systemic oppression that create barriers to wellness.

Outside of Work

In her personal life, Kate enjoys hiking the many trails of the Okanagan, paddle-boarding on Kalamalka Lake, and reading fantasy novels. She loves the community in Kelowna and attending the many activities that are around town.
