Frequently Asked Questions
-
It can be frustrating trying to figure out which treatments are best suited to helping you heal from your particular trauma. To make it easier, we have a 3-step process, after which you’ll have a concrete plan to help you do just that.
You can schedule a free 15-minute call with our Clinical Coordinator to get to know you. On that call, we’ll schedule a full 90-minute assessment with one of our trauma therapists who is knowledgeable in all of the treatments we offer, as well as some we don’t. We will provide you with our recommendation for treatments suitable to your needs.
-
Our therapists each specialise in specific treatments. During your 15-minute free initial consultation, we will be able to direct you to a therapist who can meet your needs best. If you have a preference for a specific practitioner who will suit your needs and they have space, of course you can book with them directly.
-
We currently offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Somatic Experiencing, Walk and Talk therapy, ES integration, Talk Therapy, Internal Family Systems Informed Therapy, Neurofeedback and more. See all specialties.
-
Our therapists support long-term care and recovery but because of the client load, they are not necessarily available immediately during a crisis. If you or a loved one is in crisis, call 9-1-1 or call or text the BC crisis line 1-800-784-2433 for immediate support.
If you are matched with a therapist already, we will be happy to support you at our next available opportunity. If you are looking to book a therapist, please schedule a consultation with our Clinical Coordinator and we will get you set up as quickly as we can.
-
Out of respect for our therapists and other clients, and is standard with many service providers, we do have a cancellation policy. If you cancel your appointment prior to 24 hours before your session, there is no charge. If your appointment is cancelled within 24 hours, you will be charged half the price of your appointment. If your appointment is cancelled within 12 hours, you will be charged the full price of your appointment. If you want to keep your booking but are feeling unwell, consider switching it to a virtual session and contact your therapist.
-
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some clients begin to notice meaningful changes within a few weeks, while others choose to continue for several months or longer. Your therapist will discuss your goals with you and help you create a plan that feels realistic and supportive. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach—your pace is always respected.
-
Most clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions to build momentum and establish a sense of safety. Over time, you and your therapist may decide to meet less frequently based on your needs, progress, and goals. Your schedule will always be collaborative.
-
Yes. We offer low-cost counselling through our supervised practicum student program at $60 per session, with additional sliding-scale options available based on need. This service is designed for individuals facing financial barriers, such as those on a limited income, seniors, or anyone unable to afford standard therapy rates. If you think this might be a good fit, contact us for a brief, no-pressure eligibility conversation.
-
We do not bill insurance directly; however, we can provide receipts after each session that you may submit to your insurance provider or employee benefits plan for potential reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend checking with your provider about what they offer.
-
You don’t need to figure that out on your own. Our 50-minute assessment is designed to help us understand your needs and match you with therapies that will support your healing. We’ll explain your options and collaborate with you to create a plan that feels right.
-
Absolutely. A strong therapeutic relationship is essential for effective treatment. If at any point you feel your therapist isn’t the right fit, we will gladly support you in transitioning to another practitioner on our team.
-
Yes. While trauma is a primary focus for many of our clients, we also support individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, stress, grief, life transitions, and more. You don’t need to have a trauma history to work with us.
-
That’s completely okay. Many clients don’t feel ready at first. Therapy begins with building trust, safety, and grounding skills. You will always set the pace, and your therapist will never push you to share more than you feel comfortable with.
-
Yes. If having a support person or service animal helps you feel safe, please discuss it with your therapist. We are happy to accommodate what you need to feel grounded during your session.
-
Most of our services are offered in English, but some therapists may speak additional languages. During your consultation, let us know if you have a language preference and we will do our best to accommodate.
