Neurofeedback Therapy in Kelowna, BC

What Is Neurofeedback Therapy?

While EMDR addresses trauma in the subconscious, and Somatic Experiencing addresses it in the body, Neurofeedback addresses it at the level of brain functioning.

Trauma and other difficult life events can contribute to nervous system disregulation, and if not addressed, this disregulation can become semi-permanent and result in a variety of Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders.

Neurofeedback seeks to address this by helping your brain to recognize where it’s out of alignment and self-correct, which is monitored and supported over time.

The system we use, Low Energy Neurofeedback System (LENS), was developed in the 1980’s by Och’s Labs as a gentler alternative to traditional Neurofeedback.

Whereas traditional neurofeedback uses direct training the brain (which your brain can want to “fight back” against), LENS uses EEG Biofeedback, an inherently gentle and non-invasive approach, to help your brain regulate itself.

As a result, over 85% of people receiving treatment report to seeing “significant improvement,” many after just the first session, with a complete treatment protocol completing after an average of just 11 sessions.

Who is Neurofeedback Therapy for?

LENS Neurofeedback is incredibly safe and has virtually no inherent side effects, and is suitable for every age. And though we look at Neurofeedback through the lens of healing trauma, it’s also very effective for:

  • Learning disorders

  • Brain Fog

  • Any Central Nervous System Dysfunction

  • Brain “tune-ups” for those in demanding jobs (i.e. business executives, professional athletes, musicians) who need peak brain performance

Neurofeedback is also complemented well by EMDR, and many folks with trauma choose to do both simultaneously.
