Coralee Thomas, MC, MEd., RCC, CCC
Coralee is from the beautiful island of Jamaica and has been living in Canada for the past 10 years. Living in Canada allows Coralee to live with a sense of awe and wonder as she navigates the different landscapes, cultures, and systems from small towns on the Prairies to large metropolitan centres. Coralee is a social butterfly who loves to travel and engage in new activities with her family and friends.
In Jamaica, Coralee served as a school counsellor and adjunct teacher educator. Coralee is a Certified Canadian Counsellor and Registered Clinical Counsellor in British Columbia. Coralee has had the privilege of serving in Indigenous communities as a mental health therapist and social worker. She has also worked in primary care settings and in community-based organizations, serving families and youths experiencing issues such as homelessness, grief and loss, addictions and other traumatic life events.
What motivates Coralee to do this work as a counsellor, is the resilience, drive, and capacity humans have for growth and change within relationships and with the right support. Coralee is a lifelong learner who values authentic caring relationships. Coralee’s philosophy of counselling is based on person-centred, solution-focused, trauma-informed, mindfulness-based CBT and social justice theories of counselling. Coralee is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
