For when therapy hasn’t fully worked
Tanya Wishlove, MTC, SEP, GCFP
Body-Based Trauma Healing
“When insight isn’t enough, we work with the body.”
Tanya was born and raised on the West Coast (Sechelt, BC) and has been counselling in private practice in Kelowna since 2012.
Her work is grounded in a deep understanding that trauma lives in the nervous system—and that true healing happens through the body, not just through insight.
You’ve done the work. So why does your body still feel stuck?
You may have spent years trying to understand what you’ve been through.
You’ve talked about it. Reflected on it. Made sense of it.
And yet, something in your body still holds tension. Anxiety that won’t settle. A sense that your system hasn’t fully let go.
This is where somatic work begins.
Trauma lives in the nervous system—not in the event.
Symptoms like anxiety, depression, chronic tension, and physical discomfort often come from unprocessed survival energy held in the body.
That’s why telling the story doesn’t always bring relief—and can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Through Somatic Experiencing, Tanya helps you gently track your body’s sensations to release stored survival responses and restore a sense of balance, connection, and ease.
A human approach to healing
Tanya’s favourite ways of supporting regulation include music, movement, and humour.
These simple, everyday elements often become part of the healing process—reminding us that nervous system regulation doesn’t only happen in sessions, but in real life.
Tanya describes herself in one word: “attentive,” and this is something her clients feel right away.
Her work is not about pushing or forcing change. It’s about listening closely to your nervous system, moving at a pace that feels safe, and supporting natural shifts in your body.
Sessions may include:
Tracking body sensations
Gentle awareness and regulation practices
Subtle shifts in breath, posture, or movement
Integration of felt experience—not just insight
There is no pressure to tell your story before your body is ready.
Attentive. Steady. Deeply attuned.
